I will be providing a state-wide training event for the NC DWI Services Section addressing Telehealth services. The training will occur on April 15th from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. I will be addressing my experiences as a National Certified Telehealth provider as we have negotiated the Covid-19 pandemic and changes in service delivery. CME/training hours have been applied for at this time. Following is the announcement and link for anyone so interested.
From the NC DWI Services Section:
The first webinar will be a collaboration between our office and Cecil Yount, MA, LCAS, CCS from Assessments by Yount, in Waynesville, NC. Cecil will share his “Adventures in Telehealth” on Thursday, April 15 from 2-3.
Covid-19 has dramatically impacted how services are being provided. Within the healthcare fields, the use of videoconferencing has increased exponentially. Cecil Yount, with over 45 years of experience and recent certification in telehealth, will share some of his adventures in providing services virtually. Cecil became a Board Certified Telehealth Professional Level I by the Telebehavioral Health Institute, right before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Included in this session are some nuts and bolts of implementation, pitfalls and successes of virtual SUD services.

*** Telehealth Conferencing Now The Priority Model***
Professional, confidential one on one, couple, and family addictions counseling is available to help end the pain and stress associated with alcoholism and other drug addictions. Counseling begins with accurate assessment, followed by services based upon the American Association of Addiction Medicine Patient Placement Criteria. When outpatient services are not indicated by the assessment, every effort is made to connect consumers to the proper higher level of care. Services are typically covered by insurance coverage including Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Medcost, Coventry, Cigna and others.
State and Court mandated DWI assessment services are available for both pre and post Court related individuals. Assessment fees are set by the State of N.C. at $100.00. All assessments are based upon NC DHHS standards utilizing ASAM criteria. Each individual is referred to one of five intervention levels in order to meet Court requirements and regain driving privileges. Assessments are by appointment only. Please note: DWI assessments are not sufficient for child custody cases.
As a member of EAN (Employee Assistance Network), Assessments By Yount is available for both self-referral and supervisory referrals for work related issues and impairment in job functioning. Self-referrals may be made directly or through the company Human Resource Department.

Providing services primarily in Haywood County, NC but open to the entire state of North Carolina!
Effective 06/15/2020: All DWI assessment related services require a non-refundable prepayment. The ongoing last minute cancellation of scheduled appointments and consumers simply not showing up has put an unsustainable financial pressure on my counseling service. I will now TENTATIVELY schedule a DWI assessment appointment and invoice the potential consumer for the NON-REFUNDABLE fee for the service. This fee must be paid within 48 hours of the invoice or the time slot will be released to another consumer. If the fee is paid and the appointment is not cancelled a minimum of 24 hours in advance OR if the consumer simply doesn't show up, the fee will not be returned. Any future scheduling requires a NEW prepayment of an additional non-refundable fee.
Current fee schedule for DWI assessment services:
DWI assessment - $100.00
Out of State DWI review - $210.00
In-State DWI review - $210.00
NC DWI In-State Reassessment - $100.00
NC DMV lifetime history report - $10.75
Payment of fees for general counseling services will follow a similar invoicing process. A rescheduling fee of $50.00 will be required for any general counseling services wherein a consumer either fails to provide a minimum of 24 hours notice of cancellation or does not appear for the appointment. Insurance co-pays will be invoiced or other agreements reached on an individual consumer basis.
